She is the Director of Thinking Historically for Canada’s Future, a national initiative focused on improving K-12 history education, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Her research emphasizes the interplay between students' ethnic identities and their understanding of history, as well as democratic concepts in education.

Dr. Peck has made significant contributions to curriculum development and advocacy for quality education in Alberta and beyond. She provides professional development workshops for teachers and is involved in civic education initiatives through organizations like Elections Canada. Her achievements have been recognized with awards such as the Alberta Teachers’ Association Public Education Award (2022) and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (2023). Additionally, she actively critiques and contributes to the ongoing discussions about Alberta's social studies curriculum reforms.

Mark Dorin is a member of the Alberta Liabilities Disclosure Project (ALDP) and an advocate for reforming Alberta's energy regulations to address environmental and financial issues caused by abandoned and inactive oil and gas wells. He has been vocal about the Alberta Energy Regulator's (AER) handling of cleanup liabilities, criticizing it for underestimating the scale of the problem and failing to collect sufficient funds from industry to cover reclamation costs. Dorin has argued that cleanup costs should be fully borne by the oil and gas operators, as required by law, and has called for significant increases in industry contributions to the Orphan Well Fund.

Dorin also supports comprehensive reforms to Alberta's regulatory and legal frameworks to ensure accountability and prevent taxpayers from shouldering the costs of environmental damage. His criticisms often highlight the disconnect between current regulations and their enforcement, suggesting that Alberta's liability management systems need substantial improvement to ensure long-term sustainability.
