Enough Is Enough - It's Time For Resistance!
On Saturday, May 10th, citizens across Alberta will rise together in a province-wide "Enough Is Enough" Rally to demand accountability, integrity, and justice from the government that claims to represent them — and it’s happening in Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, and Medicine Hat, with the main rally set for 1:00 PM at the Edmonton Legislature.
This movement is a collaboration between Enough Is Enough and Alberta Resistance ( abresistance.ca ), fueled by frustration but driven by hope — hope for an Alberta that puts people before profit, truth before propaganda, and unity over division. The rally, inspired by powerful video messages titled "Enough Is Enough" (Watch it here) and "Alberta Anti-UCP Rally" (Watch it here), invites all Albertans to confront the dangerous direction our province is headed under Premier Danielle Smith.
What We’re Fighting For
1. Environment: Coal mining corporations, backed by former government insiders, continue to lobby for access to Alberta’s eastern slopes, threatening pristine ecosystems and ignoring Indigenous consultation. The rollback of the 1976 coal policy and quiet approval of exemptions show a clear prioritization of profit over the planet. This is climate denial in action.
2. Education: Alberta is alone in heavily funding charter and private schools with public dollars — while undercutting public schools. Charter schools operate without elected oversight, creating a two-tiered education system where the privileged benefit and the rest are left behind. Education should empower all, not divide us by income or ideology.
3. Healthcare (#CorruptCare): Instead of fixing Alberta’s strained public healthcare system, the UCP is intentionally starving it to justify privatization. Private clinics flourish while public facilities crumble. Funding is redirected without transparency, and scandals like the children's medicine stockpile deepen public mistrust. We demand healthcare built for people, not profit.
4. LGBTQ+ Rights: Discriminatory laws targeting LGBTQ+ communities are a blatant violation of Charter rights. These policies foster fear, shame, and marginalization under the guise of 'parental rights.' Alberta must be a place where everyone can live safely, freely, and with dignity — not a testing ground for American-style culture wars.
5. AISH and Disability Support: Rather than enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities, the UCP is clawing back the $200 Canada Disability Benefit increase from AISH recipients. It’s exploitation masquerading as budget management. Alberta should support its most vulnerable, not balance budgets on their backs.
6. Alberta Police Force: The push to replace the RCMP with an Alberta Police Force is reckless and unwanted. It duplicates services, costs billions, and lacks local accountability. Most communities don’t want it — but the UCP continues anyway, pushing ideology over practicality. Source: CBC
7. Alberta Pension Plan (APP): Danielle Smith’s dream of withdrawing Alberta from the Canada Pension Plan risks the retirement security of millions. The numbers don’t add up, and experts have sounded alarms. Albertans overwhelmingly oppose the APP, yet the UCP presses forward. This is not leadership — it’s economic vandalism. These are just some of the core topics, and there are more.
Lowered Referendum Threshold — A Danger to Democracy
One of the most misunderstood threats to Alberta’s democracy is the UCP’s recent lowering of the signature threshold required to trigger a referendum. With the bar now set at just 10% of voter turnout and no riding-level requirements, the UCP can push major constitutional changes — policing, or pensions — with minimal public scrutiny. This is not democratic progress. It’s manipulation of democratic tools for partisan ends. This is effectively undermining democracy!
"Your Voice for Choice" — What It Means
This rally is more than protest — it’s a movement. "Your Voice for Choice" means reclaiming power. It means choosing action over silence. It means refusing to accept corruption, discrimination, and deceit as the new normal. And it means supporting the launch of recall efforts against this government’s worst offenders.
These recall efforts are aimed directly at local MLAs who either support the government’s harmful actions or remain silent in the face of injustice. If they’re not standing up for the people they represent, then they don’t deserve to represent us at all.
Every day, Albertans make choices that define their future. May 10th is one of those days. What choice will you make?
Rally Locations — Saturday, May 10th:
-
Edmonton: Legislature Grounds, 1PM–3PM
-
Calgary: City Hall Plaza, 1PM–4PM
-
Lethbridge: City Hall Steps, 1PM–3PM
-
Medicine Hat: Just Wright’s Office, 10:30AM–NOON
Speakers and Solidarity
Speakers at each location will address the seven core topics above, as well as the broader need for honesty, transparency, and real leadership in Alberta. We urge everyone — from environmental advocates to healthcare workers, teachers, LGBTQ+ allies, and disability rights defenders — to show up and support one another.
Bring your signs, flags, and banners. Show your colours. Raise your voice.
What else can people do to help?
This Weekend: Counter-Rally to Alberta Separation
Danielle Smith has gone too far. In what looks like a tantrum over Pierre Poilievre losing the federal election — and his seat — she is now pandering to Alberta separatists. That is not acceptable. That is not Canadian.
Join the counter-rally to Alberta Independence, happening this Saturday, May 3rd at 1PM at the Edmonton Legislature, and make it clear: Alberta belongs to all of us — and we’re staying.
Support the #CorruptCare Legal Battle
A new Grassroots group in Medicine Hat has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support whistleblower Athana Mentzelopoulos in her legal case against the Alberta government and its shady healthcare dealings.
Final Word
Danielle Smith’s government has made its choices — scandal, division, dishonesty, and denial. Now it’s time for Albertans to make theirs.
Join us. Stand up. Speak out. Make May 10th a turning point.
It’s your province. It’s your future. It’s Your Voice for Choice.
