Elected in 2019, he was appointed Minister of Advanced Education on April 30, 2019. He was tasked with cutting funding to Universities and Colleges and promoting Trades. He was re-elected in 2023 with only 623 more votes than his opponent. He was appointed Minister of Education and since then has continued to cut funding for K-12 education. Alberta has the lowest funding per student in Canada/North America. $11,561 (2020-2021) It also has the highest funding for private schools 70% and charter schools 100%
