Members It’s Time!

In recent months ABR has worked diligently to increase our membership. We’ve participated in podcasts, attended forums, rallies, and held awareness campaigns. We’ve connected with Albertans of every political stripe, all of whom have expressed alarm at the direction the UCP government is taking, and the disastrous effects their actions are having on them and their families. Albertans must stop them. Albertans CAN stop them!

Those of you who have been here from the beginning know that ABR was born of the need to find some way of holding the UCP accountable. The one and only option open to Albertans that effected real change was Bill 52, the Recall Act.

ABR has taken on the mantle of a Political TPA in order to support and guide Albertans successfully through the recall process. We are thrilled to share with you that we are now prepared to share with you the tools that will empower you to compel real and lasting change. Yes, you can legally and democratically remove the UCP government.

Facts

1. A recall must be filed by a person residing in that constituency.
2. A successful recall consists of having 40% of the electorate in your riding signing on to your petition.
3. The canvassing must be completed within 60 days.
4. If the UCP loses 6 seats, they can no longer form government

At first glance, this may seem daunting. The good news? It’s not!

By The Numbers

1. The UCP won 6 constituencies with a total of 2080 votes That’s over all 6 constituencies! This renders these 6 MLAs particularly vulnerable to a recall. Although, you might say that the disastrous actions of the UCP put all constituencies at risk, and we couldn’t argue with that.
2. Of the constituencies referred to here, 5 are in Calgary, and one in Lethbridge.

• Calgary Cross
• Calgary Bow
• Calgary North
• Calgary NW
• Calgary E
• Lethbridge E

At this point, we are looking at volunteers in each of these constituencies. How many Albertans are stepping up to help? There is no substitute for PARTICIPATION. The Advisory Board has been working hard on a daily basis for months, but we can’t do this on our own. This is the moment in time that Albertans have to make the decision. “Am I willing to give up a few hours of my time to oust the UCP, and change the trajectory of our province?”

ARE YOU WILLING?

1. The average constituency consists of approximately 34,000 electorate.
2. If you break that down into 10,000 single voter residences, and 12,000 2 voter residences, that’s 22,000 doors to knock on.

Sounds intimidating, doesn’t it? It’s really not! Let’s break it down even further.

1. If you have

• 80 canvassers – you only need each person to knock on 275 doors
• 40 canvassers – 550 doors
• 25 canvassers – 880 doors

One person can knock on 60-70 doors in one 4 hour shift (we know this because we’ve done it!)

1. Here's an example for fun: Pick a Saturday, grab 10 friends, knock on doors for four hours…you’ll hit 650 residences. Add a Sunday…1300 residences! 8 hours per weekend, 8 weekends, and half the total signatures would be achieved…with enough time left over for lazy morning coffee, time for errands, and evenings with your family!

Would it be worth it to you to get rid of the UCP???

1. You can also hold town halls…bring the electorate to you!

IF YOU’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A REAL OPTION TO TAKE CONCRETE, MEANINGFUL ACTION, THIS IS YOUR TIME ALBERTA! YOU CAN BE THE CHANGE!

We anticipate the greatest impact in the 6 constituencies indicated, however we are positioned to lend the same support to any other Albertan who is motivated to organize and recall their own MLA.

How Can ABR Help You?

We are putting together a Tool Kit which will contain the following:

• Summary and salient points of Bill 52, the Recall Act
• A breakdown of the electorate in your constituency
• Residential maps
• Research on your MLA’s actions and inactions
• List of linked UCP actions which have devastated Alberta
• Pre-filing we can assist with town halls etc. to attract canvassers

If you’re not in one of the indicated ridings, your participation is still very much needed. We have a great Advisory Board, dedicated people who have volunteered their time and expertise on a daily basis, as well as having jobs and families, as most of you do…but we can’t do it alone! ABR is in need of your assistance in the following areas:

• Legal Research/Data Research
• Representatives to attend forums, rallies in your town or city. Thus far, board members have been travelling to out of town events to get our information out there, but this can’t be maintained on an ongoing basis. We really need help with this!
• We are constantly looking for communications people to do blogs, memes, writing letters to the editor etc.

We have a target date of March 1st, 2025. This will allow time to organize your constituency, and takes weather into consideration.

This is it, Alberta! If you really want to get rid of this fascist government before there are not enough pieces left to put back together, we must do it now, and we must do it together!
